Nightlife Associations Raise the Bar on the Nighttime Economy
The Responsible Hospitality Institute begins its Sociable City Live Webinar Series on April 28th with a panel discussion among nightlife association representatives from New York City, Washington, DC, San Diego and Philadelphia. As downtown districts evolve, and demand grows for more evening and late-night venues, pressure mounts on nightlife venues to control crowds, noise, intoxication and underage drinking. Nightlife associations advocate the importance of the nighttime economy and promote responsibility among their members.
Santa Cruz, CA (PRWEB) April 23, 2009 -- By setting a new precedent for collaboration between the hospitality industry and city government, nightlife associations have raised the bar on serving standards and public safety. The Responsible Hospitality Institute's April 28th Sociable City Live Webinar will feature representatives from four city nightlife associations and how they've become a central resource for nightlife venues, helping businesses thrive and stay in compliance through peer-to-peer mentoring and conflict resolution in the community.
New York City, a world-renowned nightlife destination, will be one of the featured cities. An initiative led by the New York City Nightlife Association yielded an eye-opening assessment of nightlife venues with staggering proof of nightlife as an economic engine. Rob Bookman, general counsel and co-founder notes, "The NYC Nightlife Association was able to demonstrate nightlife venues generate more revenue and serve more people than all of the city's sports arenas, Broadway shows and theaters combined." The city's nightlife association also broke ground in developing a positive partnership with the NYC police on strategies to reduce impacts from public safety and quality of life often associated with nightlife.
RHI's Sociable City Live Webinar Series began in 2006, and has featured speakers from North America, New Zealand and England with many stops in between. "Our goal is to establish an online forum for people dedicated to enhancing opportunities for people to socialize in districts that are safe and vibrant," observes RHI president Jim Peters. "Through our newly formed Sociable City Network, members can access case studies and expertise from a global network of professionals."
