Contact Singapore in New York and San Francisco will augment the work of the organization's headquarters in Singapore by reaching out and interacting directly with talent in North America, ranging from graduating students to working professionals. With these two centers, Contact Singapore now has three offices in North America, including Boston. The opening of these new offices reflects the attractiveness of skilled talent in North America to employers in Singapore and also addresses the increasing interest shown by talent to work in Singapore.

Although growth has slowed in Singapore's economy along with the global economy, the city-state continues to offer opportunities in its new growth industries - info-communications and digital media and biomedical sciences and clean technology. Some examples are the following companies which announced their plans in Singapore last year:

  • Ubisoft (France) established its first Southeast Asia games development studio here and are looking to hire programmers, graphic artists, animators and game developers;
  • Vestas (Denmark) opened its global wind technology R&D center and are seeking engineers across levels and disciplines; and,
  • Eli Lilly (USA) expanded research activities to be the largest corporate R&D center in Singapore and have openings for researchers and scientists, amongst other positions.

For job opportunities in Singapore, talent can also log on to www.contactsingapore.sg/jobs to search for jobs spanning from the technology to financial sectors, and post their resumes online. This job portal is managed by Contact Singapore, in collaboration with economic promotion agencies and key employers in Singapore. Singapore's long-term prospects remain positive. With its sound economic fundamentals, the country is well-positioned to capture the opportunities when the global economy rebounds.

To find out more about working and living in Singapore, talent can log on to the Contact Singapore website at www.contactsingapore.sg for the list of upcoming events where they can meet our representatives. The Contact Singapore New York office is headed by Ms Jynn Goh, Area Director (North America) and the Contact Singapore San Francisco office is headed by Ms Tan Lee Sar, Area Director (North America). Both have had extensive experience engaging with talent in North America and assisting them in their move to Singapore.

The IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2008 ranked Singapore as one of the top countries in the world and the foremost country in Asia for quality of life. The Singapore government has committed to building a home for the future to create an even more liveable city. It is spending close to US$3 billion to develop first class infrastructure and expand provisions for education and healthcare. As one of the most liveable and cosmopolitan cities in the world, Singapore is the place to be.
