Yesterday, at approximately 1:30PM, Rockybid.com sold its premier item, the 2010 Honda Insight the insight hybrid sedan, for $1.24! To clarify, that is not a typo; the unique auction site sold a brand new car for one dollar and twenty four cents! Rockybid also auctions off TVs, digital cameras, Nintendo Wiis, iPods, cell phones, GPS systems, vacation packages, laptops, netbooks, PCs and Sony Playstations for similar savings.

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 21, 2009 -- Yesterday, at approximately 1:30PM, Rockybid.com sold its premier item, the 2010 Honda Insight hybrid sedan, for $1.24! To clarify, that is not a typo; the unique auction site sold a brand new car for one dollar and twenty four cents! It is the greatest bargain ever won on Rockybid, as the vehicle's retail price of $19,800 exceeds the auction sale price by a whopping factor of 15,968. One dollar and twenty four cents is by far the cheapest price paid for a brand new car in recent years, possibly this century.

Rockybid.com is a new online auction website that makes prizes available to users for negligible prices. Although Rockybid expected the Insight to sell far below its ticket price, the remarkable final bid came as a complete shock. The site auctions off other items at significant discounts as well, including brand new flat screen TVs, digital cameras, Nintendo Wiis, iPods, iPhones, cell phones, GPS systems, vacation packages, laptops, netbooks, PC computers and XBOX 360's. However, the 2010 Honda Insight hybrid was far and away the most expensive item put on the block to date. The five-door hatchback was Japan's top selling vehicle for April 2009 and only became available in America on April 22, 2009.

Unlike eBay and other traditional auction sites, Rockybid's auction strategy starts sale items off at $0 and sets a time limit for each auction. Every time a bid is placed, the price increases by just $0.01 or $0.15, depending on the auction, and 15 seconds are added to the auction countdown clock. The winner of the auction is the last person to bid when the timer reaches zero. Rockybid has termed this style of auctioning an omega auction, as the last bidder in the series wins.

Shortly after the auction resumed on Wednesday, May 20th, user JANEMEGG of PA won the 2010 Honda Insight auction after an extremely short bidding war with only one other user. Rockybid is currently in discussions with venues and potential sponsors for the event that will take place within the next 30 days.
