Not All Paper Assets are 'Dead' -- A New Bull Market Emerges... in Classic 1960's Concert Posters
As investors shun the wildly unpredictable stock and bond markets, prices are rising for what many are calling the next big thing in paper assets…. Classic 1960's Rock Concert Posters!
Park City, Utah (PRWEB) June 9, 2009 -- As investors shun the wildly unpredictable stock and bond markets, The Psychedelic Art Exchange says prices are rising for what many are calling the next big thing in paper assets…. Classic 1960's Rock Concert Posters.
"These beautiful works of art were originally created over 40 years ago to advertise concerts by superstars such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Eric Clapton and the Grateful Dead," explained Scott Tilson, of Psychedelic Art Exchange, a leading dealer in the genre. "The bold colors, cosmic lettering and psychedelic imagery really resonate with the millions of collectors and music fans that grew up during this historic, defining era."
The posters were issued in tiny quantities under 1000, and then plastered on telephone poles, bulletin boards and store windows all over town. Today, the few pieces that have somehow survived in Mint Condition are highly coveted collector's items.
"When you compare the rarity of these posters to coins, stamps and baseball cards that are issued in the millions, it's easy to understand why these Limited Editions are enjoying such strong demand," said Tilson. "In fact, we have a waiting list for many of the most desirable issues."
Collectors are not the only ones "tripping out" over this artwork. During the past two years, several wildly popular and hugely attended exhibitions have been staged at such venerable institutions as the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Laguna Art Museum, and the Denver Art Museum.
"Museums are just now discovering what many collectors have known all along …that these beautiful and historic pieces are not only really popular, but also true works of art, " added Tilson. "People tell us that seeing paper assets hanging on their walls is far more rewarding than watching their money vanish in today's financial markets."
