Little Girl Lost: New Collection of Poems Released

Moving beyond a painful past

Clark, NJ (Vocus/PRWEB ) June 9, 2009 -- A survivor of child abuse, Lauren S. Barr knows what it is like to grow up in a neglectful household, yet find the inner strength and power to move past the agonizing memories and achieve a happy, fulfilled life as an adult. She details this pain, loneliness and eventual freedom in her new collection of poems, Little Girl Lost.

The 36 poems that comprise Little Girl Lost are at times graphic, heart-wrenching and emotional. Yet Barr's collection leaves readers with a renewed sense of optimism, inspiration and the motivation to move on from whatever painful memories hide in one's past - without ever forgetting the trying times. In "free," Barr encapsulates this hopefulness.

"I almost died
trying to make you happy.
Not anymore.
This time it's about me,
about what I want and need…
to be free from you."

Little Girl Lost is a moving work of strength and inspiration that all can relate to, whether they have been a victim of abuse and neglect or not. Readers will learn that hope is never lost and one can move beyond a painful past.
