SageQuest’s Utilities Team Enhances Focus on Rural Electric Cooperatives
New initiatives include joining NRECA and embracing NRECA’s MultiSpeak AVL specification for GPS fleet tracking and management.
Cleveland, OH (Vocus/PRWEB ) June 10, 2009 —SageQuest, a leader in GPS fleet tracking and management solutions, today announced a new focus on serving the needs of rural electric cooperatives across the United States. The company is taking the key steps to join the electric cooperative community by becoming an associate member of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and becoming compliant with the NRECA’s MultiSpeak AVL standardization initiative.

According to Bruce Lambrecht, SageQuest’s Director of Utility Market, “There is a sharp trend among cooperatives to add GPS/AVL systems to their mobile application environment to help them respond to any dynamic operating conditions. The co-ops realize that solutions such as SageQuest’s Mobile Control application allow them to enhance their focus on delivering more reliable service to their member-owners, and take advantage of cost reduction and improved productivity,” said Lambrecht.
SageQuest currently provides fleet tracking and management solutions to broadband and utilities companies throughout the United States, but sees an important opportunity with members of the NRECA such as Delaware Electric Cooperative (DEC). DEC has SageQuest’s Mobile Control solution in place to provide insight into the daily activity of its 87 field personnel.
DEC integrated Mobile Control with their outage management system, allowing dispatchers and supervisors access to critical real-time location of field personnel during an outage. They also use Mobile Control’s fleet maintenance and analytics tools to optimize efficiency and keep the fleet running in peak condition. Since rolling out Mobile Control, DEC has run 2.5 million miles without accident. “We chose the SageQuest system because it was easy to use, easy to configure, and easy to integrate with our outage management software,” according to Steve Perry, Assistant Manager of Property & Store for DEC. “The data we see from the system really provides us with timely information that we use to make better decisions for our field personnel and our fleet. Our outage response time has improved since we can observe our vehicles at all times.”
SageQuest also joined MultiSpeak, as a vendor member and committed to be compliant with the MultiSpeak AVL specification. “We already integrate our real-time location data with leading workforce automation applications, like outage management, said Jonathan Durkee, Vice President of Sales and Product management. “Joining MultiSpeak further enhances our ability to easily integrate and add real value to existing systems without much additional work for the cooperatives or for the other Multispeak application vendors.”
