November Brings Miss America 2009 to the VA Maryland Health Care System

There she is! Miss America! Miss America 2009 Katie Stam, 22, who travels 20,000 miles a month, changing location every 24 to 48 hours, will visit the Baltimore VA Medical Center when she comes to Maryland with the USO of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro) in November during Veterans Day week. Stam, a communications major at the University of Indianapolis who aspires to become a TV news reporter and anchor and who is passionate about service, plans to visit hospitalized Veterans as part of her effort to promote community service and involvement. The VA Maryland Health Care System welcomes Stam, the USO-Metro, and anyone who would like to become a volunteer.

Miss America 2009 Katie Stam, 22, who travels 20,000 miles a month, changing location every 24 to 48 hours, will visit the Baltimore VA Medical Center when she comes to Maryland with the USO of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro) in November during Veterans Day week. Highlights:    
As part of a USO-Metro celebrity handshake tour, Stam will visit with hospitalized Veterans, meeting with them individually, posing with them for Polaroid snapshots, which she will then sign and give to the Veteran.
