Darshan Productions Announces Debut of New Television Docu-Series
Pilot episode to feature NFL Fullback Heath Evans
(PRWEB) June 11, 2009 -- Independent media company Darshan Productions is proud to announce the debut of a new television docu-series and its pilot episode, "Heath Evans: Off the Field".
In Sanskrit, the word Darshan means "sight" or "vision" - specifically, "Visions of the Divine". In Hinduism, it is said that one who experiences Darshan receives a blessing. This fact is the basis for founding Darshan Productions.
"I wanted to draw on my creativity and use it as a way of reaching out to people who can make a difference in the world," explains Darshan's Founder and Executive Producer, Lisa Vrancken. "The goal is to produce meaningful content that fosters social responsibility."
To bring her vision to fruition, Vrancken compiled a team of Emmy and Telly award-winning TV and film producers who want to use their talents to serve the greater good. Among these are Producer Chris Verna, Director of Photography Renato Lombardi and Director/Producer/Writer Niki Dicesare, whose Hollywood credentials serve her well in her directorial debut.
Darshan Productions' docu-series, Raising Humanity, went into pre-production in March of this year. The pilot episode, "Heath Evans: Off the Field", is expected to be completed in September. NFL great Heath Evans of the New Orleans Saints started The Heath Evans Foundation as a source of hope and healing to survivors of sexual abuse and their families.
Raising Humanity will allow viewers to gain insight into issues that affect the lives of millions, both here at home and throughout the world - issues like abuse, poverty, HIV/AIDS, genocide and natural disasters. They will see a diverse group of celebrity humanitarians and the volunteers that dedicate their time and resources to a number of worthy causes.
Future press releases will track the progress of this visionary project, as well as network distribution. It is the hope of Darshan Productions that its episodes will touch viewers and inspire them to get involved, on a local, national or global level.
