Buster Brands Launches Natural Alternatives to Acetaminophen Pain Killers

On the heels of a new report that warns of potential liver damage from the well known pain reliever acetaminophen, sales of natural pain relief products are picking up steam. On Wednesday, the FDA released a report recommending stronger warnings and dose limits for drugs containing acetaminophen in both the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) versions. Negative publicity for acetaminophen has been building for several years now, which has led to new natural advances in pain relief -- particularly in the headache category.

Parsippany, NJ (PRWEB) May 29, 2009 -- On the heels of a new report that warns of potential liver damage from the well known pain reliever acetaminophen, sales of natural pain relief products are picking up steam.

In 2004, SiCap, LLC launched the world's first OTC nasal spray for sinus symptoms and related headaches using capsaicin, the natural extract of cayenne peppers. Since then, Sinus Buster has found its way onto the shelves of thousands of retailers including Rite Aid and Vitamin World stores.

Unlike traditional acetaminophen products, Buster brand nasal sprays contain no harmful chemicals. Most importantly, in nasal spray form these products go straight to the source of headache pain to quickly reduce inflammation. Recently, Buster brands released "Headache Buster," a nasal spray that specifically targets migraine headache pain using capsaicin, feverfew and peppermint oil.

Mainstream retailers have already started to add natural pain relief sections to their shelves, offering alternatives to chemically derived drugs. As more information comes out surrounding the dangers of acetaminophen, this trend toward natural pain relief will continue to grow as more consumers demand safer medications.

While well known brands such as Tylenol, Excedrin and Fever All are recognized by consumers as containing acetaminophen, there are many other mainstream brands and generics also using the ingredient. In addition, there are dozens of other products that consumers aren't aware of that also contain acetaminophen including multi-ingredient formulas for cough, cold and flu.

"Consumers may not be aware that acetaminophen is present in many over-the-counter combination products, so they may unknowingly exceed the recommended acetaminophen dose if they take more than one acetaminophen product without knowing that both contain acetaminophen," the report said.
