Cancer’s ‘Courageous Kidz’ Deserve a Carowinds Vacation

Courageous Kidz, a non-profit group, coordinates their annual trip to Carowinds for “courageous” kids with cancer and their family.

Charleston, SC (Vocus/PRWEB ) May 30, 2009 -- As you plan your summer vacation, you can also give a super Carowinds vacation to a “courageous” kid with Cancer.

Yes, It’s proven effective treatment according to the acclaimed non-profit organization, “Courageous Kidz” - that one little trip to Carowinds lifts the minds and spirits of children courageously coping with the dis-ease of Cancer. For this organization and these kids, it’s that one looming, all-exhilarating, mind-blowing roller coaster ride that remedies immediate cancer woes and gives an instant, wonderful release. Even for a few moments, fun outings like Carowinds, thrills and empowers these courageous kids and their efforts to survive the especially-stress-filled-life of a child with Cancer.

The fun, friends, thrills a minute atmosphere of Carowinds is a great way to put all those yucky, boring, and often very painful cancer treatments at bay. It’s a chance to get away from the sterile environments filled with big needles, exhaustive treatments and general drudgery of Cancer – it’s “Carowinds or Bust!” for these kids who just want to get away for a few days to soak in the sights, sounds and smells of just being…a normal kid.

Approximately 100 children with cancer, their siblings, counselors and medical staff converge on Carowinds for an all out blast. No holds barred, the expert medical staff is on-hand available to ensure that each child, regardless of their medical condition, thoroughly enjoys the trip. This one small-to-you but ‘totally awesome’ excursion to them – moves the run down, weak, tired child - and pumps them full of positive attitude, light- heartedness and rebuilt vigor, and it even gives them quality time to rest up after their full throttle Carowinds’ excursion filled with laughter and play.

The Carowinds trip agenda is wild. The first day of this Carowinds vacation for kids with Cancer (Courageous Kidz) is spent in celebration of a life lost a couple of years ago. Although this is sad indeed, the celebration is anything but sad. It’s called “Dakota’s Day” at Lake Wylie where the vacation begins and is hosted by Dakota’s parents, Courageous Kidz, and supportive friends - a time filled with tubing, volleyball, jet skiing, water balloon fights, a yummy dinner, even a night sky filled with fireworks! After an exhilarating day at the lake, the entire group embarks upon Carowinds with the goal to trek every ride in the park.

Cancer is a devastating disease that alters the lifestyle of not only the child, but the entire family. Courageous Kidz believes that “the child has the disease and the family has cancer.” The seemingly never-ending medical appointments, countless hospitalizations, surgeries and the dreaded days of feeling crummy, often takes an overwhelming toll on even the most stable of homes. A child with cancer can go from a simple, carefree life to one where doctors and nurses are the ones they see the most.

This is where Courageous Kidz steps in, roaring loudly, to “pick up the pieces” and bring the magic back to these amazing families. We want the child and the family to live life to the fullest, despite a cancer diagnosis. Courageous Kidz strive to put some normalcy back to children’s lives riddled with all things very far from normal.
