Pioneering "Green Roadway Project" Harnesses Renewable Energy on U.S. Roadways & Plugs into the Smart Grid
California generates 40 percent of its emissions via transportation systems. The problem in California is common from state to state. The Green RoadwayTM Project (www.thegreenroadway.com) is an answer to this problem. This innovative clean energy gathering and distribution platform will harness renewable energy along America's roadways and complement smart grid technologies. On July 24th, Ocean Tomo (www.oceantomo.com) will conduct a private sealed bid auction for the rights to each state, by territory, to obtain exclusive licenses to the massive Green RoadwayTM technology portfolio. The portfolio includes comprehensive end-to-end roadway installations and configurations for solar, wind as well as geothermal energy gathering and distribution systems.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 13, 2009 -- California generates 40 percent of its emissions via transportation systems.
Renowned business leaders, such as Charles Munger, also see the need for these kinds of solutions. In a shareholder meeting on May 2, 2009, Mr. Munger, Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, said that he sees "a final breakthrough that solves the main technical problem of man," he continued, "by harnessing the power of the sun, electrical power will become more available around the world. That will help humans turn seawater into fresh water and eliminate environmental problems, Mr. Munger explained. "If you have enough energy you can solve a lot of other problems."
The Green RoadwayTM Project is based on an innovative and efficient system to utilize alternative energy. The inventors, Gene Fein and Ed Merritt, have created vast methods of deploying alternative sources of energy that can now be achieved with low incremental cost and high cohesion with existing energy infrastructure. The Green RoadwayTM serves as the backbone for the creation of new nodes connected to the smart grid system to provide flexibility and convenient distribution of harnessed energy.
Genedics Clean Energy, LLC will license their system through Ocean Tomo on a state-by-state basis in order to provide for the most expeditious deployment of their shovel-ready technology. "The transformation of our nation's roadways from something that facilitates the generation of emissions to a new found supply line for clean renewable energy is needed and timely," explains Green RoadwayTM spokesperson Kelly Meyer. Ms. Meyer sees the development of the clean energy alternatives in the public right-of-way along the nation's highways as a "billboard of hope for our youth as they look out the window of their family car and see that clean energy as part of their lives and a commitment to their future."
The Green RoadwayTM Project provides stakeholders in this clean energy initiative an opportunity to capture incentives offered by the US Government for the development of alternative sources of energy. Incentives include tax credits, renewable energy credits and allocations from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 such as the 27 billion dollars allocated to states for roadway related infrastructure upgrades and repairs. Also available is four billion dollars in smart grid and technology deployment funding from the Department of Energy. Utilizing tax incentives, available grants and other programs, upwards of 80% of a project's costs could be covered.
"The technology to harness clean renewable energy for the electrical grid right along our nation's roadways is proven and ready for immediate implementation," explains Ocean Tomo Vice Chairman, Dean Becker. Ocean Tomo has been engaged by Genedics Clean Energy, LLC to auction this technology portfolio on a state-by-state basis.
