Bill Joy to Keynote at Rutgers Entrepreneurship Day, "Economic Growth through Innovation" May 13th, 2009

On May 13th, 2009, Rutgers, The State University Of New Jersey and the BEST Institute are hosting Entrepreneurship Day. Bill Joy, Greg Olsen, Randal Pinkett, East Coast Venture Capitalists and Angel Investors to participate.

New Brunswick, NJ (PRWEB) May 6, 2009 -- On May 13th, 2009 the Rutgers BEST Institute is hosting Entrepreneurship Day at the Rutgers University College Avenue Student Center in New Brunswick, NJ. Bill Joy, co-founder of Sun Microsystems and senior partner at the leading venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB), will give the keynote address for the event focused on "Economic Growth through Innovation". Also speaking will be Greg Olsen, an American entrepreneur and scientist who in October 2005 became the third private citizen to take a self-funded trip into space on the International Space Station. Dr. Olsen will be presenting a talk titled "A Personal Adventure: From Serial Entrepreneur to Space Traveler".

A panel discussion, "Your Road to Success", will be moderated by Inc. Magazines' Deputy Editor, Mike Hofman. The panel features CEOs from the New Jersey/New York Metro Area. In addition, student groups, startups and aspiring entrepreneurs will be participating in a "Business Pitch Presentation Forum" where they will be showcasing their ideas and plans for new businesses. The day's events will include the Rutgers Business Plan Competition Awards Ceremony where first place will receive a $25,000 award and second place will receive a $10,000 award. The competition is sponsored by The New Jersey Sales Executive Foundation.

"Cultivating and growing small grass roots companies is what will drive our economy forward and take us into the future. This will be accomplished by entrepreneurs - and particularly those that combine their personal passion with innovation," said Professor Richard Mammone, Director of Rutgers Best Institute which is dedicated to improving the economy through innovation and entrepreneurship.

The afternoon concludes with the Campus CEO Challenge Awards presented by Dr. Randal Pinkett, chairman and CTO of BCT Partners, a Rutgers Graduate, Rhodes Scholar and winner of NBC's hit reality TV show, "The Apprentice" with Donald Trump.
