Solving The Website Traffic Conundrum - Harnessing The Power of Web 2.0

This Press Release reviews the evolution of website traffic techniques since the birth of the internet and wishes to bring to the reader's attention the launch of a new website which will enable webmasters to take advantage of the burgeoning power of Web 2.0 to, potentially, generate hordes of highly targeted traffic.

Market Harborough, Leicestershire, U.K. (PRWEB) May 6, 2009 -- Alan Pearce, a successful U.K. based online marketer, wishes to announce the launch, of a new website which, he suggests, will improve the generation of highly targeted traffic for any online business. "The word "traffic" is embedded in the minds of all website owners", says Alan. "All websites, irrespective of their subject, topic or niche, require traffic. Not any traffic, but highly targeted traffic," he continues.

Traffic is, indeed, the very lifeblood of all online businesses. Without it the business cannot possibly survive. Clearly, no visitors = no sales = no income. Imagine, for example, a "corner shop" with no customers.

The conundrum is and, indeed, always has been how to drive enough traffic to the website to create interest and, ultimately, revenue. There have been, over the years, any number of traffic generation systems created. Some have stood the test of time and will continue to do so; others palpably have not. What worked "then", so to speak, does not work now.

So, ponders Alan, how does the webmaster ensure a continuing flow of traffic. Not only traffic, but highly targeted traffic. "It's not that difficult to drive traffic to a website - the trick is ensuring that the traffic, or at least some of it, will actually be interested in what the website has to offer. In the traditional retail market", continues Alan, "people would not effect a purchase at, say, a butcher's shop if what they were looking for is a loaf of bread".

There are, or course, many alternatives but, arguably, one of the most effective methods of traffic generation is to harness the power of Web 2.0. Web 2.0? One supposes that the term suggests that, at some point, there was something called Web 1.0. In fact, there wasn't. It was simply a name coined to label the raft of changes that were becoming evident in the design of websites and the many new platforms, technologies and social interactions that were springing up on the internet in quick succession. So, how do we summarise all these radical changes and what does it all mean in the generation of traffic?

Alan Pearce notes the following:-
1) Websites no longer show only text and still images
2) Web pages are becoming more "user friendly"
3) Websites have become interactive with the visitor in a variety of ways
4)Blogs have grown dramatically in numbers, to the extent that they now attract more visitors than full websites

But what does all this mean in the generation of traffic? "Well", says Alan, "in the world of Web 2.0, users interact in a very personal way. They exchange ideas and impressions and, in many cases, make friends and develop a special kind of community. These people tend to hunt in packs, as it were, often hundreds at a time with the result that if one or two of them find and love your site, you could have a surge of visitors to your site within hours. The best part of all this? - these visitors have cost you nothing. We are talking about FREE traffic no, hang on a moment, free "targeted traffic. Now that sounds attractive, doesn't it"..

Alan concludes "I am delighted that I have been able to "bring to the table" a website which will positively assist in increasing traffic volumes for, arguably, any online business, providing that the various techniques outlined are put into action
